Our Commitments:
- Actively recruit a diverse workforce and create an inclusive working environment that leverages on diversity to spark innovation and reduce inequalities. Ensure that minority groups, all gender groups and people with disabilities have equal opportunities and are fully empowered (Customer Operations, Resources)
- Attraction and retention of a diverse and representative workforce – ‘playing with the whole team’, as well as reducing incidents of sexual harassment and increase uptake of channels for addressing harassment (Risk)
- Reduce the digital divide by ensuring reduced costs and enable greater accessibility to data for all (Technology)
- Improve customer segmentation to tailor products and pricing to suit the different needs and income bracket of customers, increasing access to internet and related services (Regional Operations)
- Increase number of internet users in the bottom 40%, driving access and inclusion (CBU)
- Ensure there is no bias toward any group in the marketing of products and services and in our communications (CBU)
- Raised awareness on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and established adequate channels, tools and capacity building to respond to GVB (Corporate Affairs, Resources, Risk)
- Increase women representation in senior leadership positions, and across the unit as a whole through effective engagement, as well as appropriate attraction and retention initiatives (Internal Audit, Resources)
- Facilitate access to goods and services through the formation of partnerships and leveraging the M-PESA platform as a payment mechanism (Financial Services)

Closing the digital divide and promoting a more equal access to our products will broaden the customer base, help Safaricom to better respond to customers’ needs and therefore drive revenue and customers loyalty.
